International Biosciences sponsors Brighton-based, children’s charity Safety Net

Johannesburg, South Africa – 10 October 2014 – International Biosciences collaborates with Safety Net as part of its corporate, philanthropic endeavour towards building a better community, reaching out to those in need.

Safety Net promotes safety and wellbeing for children, young people and families at home, in school and across local Brighton and Hove and Sussex communities. Our vision is to build communities where all children, young people and adults have the right to feel safe and the responsibility to keep others safe.

Our children’s projects raise aspirations; boost life skills and teach techniques to keep safe at school, at home and in the community. Over 90% of children report: feeling safer; knowing who to ask for help; more confidence and self-esteem.

Our family support provides 1-2-1 home visiting, groupwork and parenting training, helping 88% of families report a positive change; 97% see an improvement in parenting; and 96% say there has been an improvement in child behaviour.

Our community work trains local people and groups to improve Child Protection policy and practice. Since 2012, 1500+ staff & volunteers from 150+ groups & organisations were trained; Child Protection training has increased by 65%; and DBS checks have increased by 15%.

Safety Net is the NSPCC Sussex Safe Network Champion.
